Michael Moore defended the Rust Belt voters who supported Donald Trump in the election, arguing that he predicted working-class voters felt forgotten by the establishment. An article well worth your time.
"You have to accept that millions of people who voted for Barack Obama, some of them once and some of them twice, changed their minds this time. They're not racist, they twice voted for a man whose middle name is Hussein," said the filmmaker on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Friday morning after some on the discussion panel argued that many Trump supporters were motivated by bigotry. "But if you put people through another eight years where you haven't — there's no middle-class jobs, they are struggling to get by … these are the things that are important to people because they are trying to get by and living paycheck to paycheck," said the progressive pundit. Moore had warned for months that Trump could win.
"I tried to get liberals to understand, come out of the bubble and come out into the world your fellow Americans are living in," said Moore.
