Sneed: Chicago Aldermen Still Like Rahm

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
It sure seemed like business as usual shortly before Mayor Rahm Emanuel‘s ‘mayor culpa’ at the City Council on Wednesday for the way he handled the police shooting of Laquan McDonald.
• The scene: A City Council anteroom.
• The script: No firestorm.
• The upshot: Nobody chewed Emanuel’s head off.

“There was no animus towards him,” said an aldermanic source describing the holiday cheer and merriment when about 35 aldermen gathered in Ald. Ed Burke’s (14th) office early Wednesday morning before an expected tense and contentious City Council meeting — to present Emanuel with his annual Christmas gift.

“The City Council aldermen always give the mayor a Christmas gift each year and chip in $20 apiece,” the source said.
How touching.
