Socialist Medicine Looks For Private Sector Bailout: Cook County hunts corporate sponsorships for county hospital

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
How about the Walgreen's Family Recovery Room at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital? The Exelon Forest Preserve Grove? Or maybe highway improvements brought to you by Ford Motor Co., or some coupons from Mariano's to ease the sting of your next property-tax bill?

After a few false starts, Cook County finally is going big-time into the sponsorship and advertising business, eventually hoping to reap big bucks from companies that want to put their name on county assets in exchange for a little passing of the green.

Under a proposed ordinance to be introduced next week by County Board President Toni Preckwinkle as part of her proposed 2015 budget, advertising and asset marketing could appear more widely on county websites, and the county would begin to actively market its assets, from Forest Preserve facilities to roads and other physical assets.

The county assessor, clerk of the Circuit Court and recorder of deeds already are authorized to accept ads on their websites and to include some mail inserts. That would be expanded throughout county government, with the active marketing of assets beginning for the first time.
Cook County Democrats are running out of other peoples' money. The proud moments of socialized medicine.
