How Congress spent your money: Some House members used tax dollars on luxury autos, décor

The Detroit News reports:
Leased luxury vehicles, large group meals, TiVo and a digital camera are among items Michigan House members billed taxpayers for last year.

Rep. John Conyers, D-Detroit, spent more than $8,000 on BBQ, Chinese meals and other food, according to 2009 quarterly spending reports filed by lawmakers and examined by The Detroit News. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, purchased carpeting and drapes for her office. And Rep. Mark Schauer, D-Battle Creek, bought an awning for his Jackson office.

Your work is their luxury.
