Feds’ cash skips Boston, goes abroad

The Boston Herald reports:
Leaders from a Cambridge high-tech company that bid on a contract to receive federal stimulus funds, but lost to an outfit based in Finland, said they will meet in coming weeks with the national laboratory that sent the money overseas.

Cambridge NanoTech lost the bid to Finland-based Picosun. The Finnish company received a $364,000 contract in March to manufacture research equipment for Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico.

A Sandia spokeswoman said in a statement that lab officials “used sound business principles and complied with all contractual and legal requirements” for distributing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
