Detroit teachers reject contract, plan to strike

The AP reports:
Teachers on Sunday rejected a two-year contract proposal by the city public school district and decided to strike.

Only two union members out of nearly 6,000 voted to accept the Detroit Public Schools' proposal, the Detroit Federation of Teachers said.
and
A 1994 state law restricts public school employees from striking but Detroit teachers defied the measure when they struck in 1999, causing students to miss six days of school.
I guess some people don't feel they have to obey the law when they have the politicians bought. This is just a glimpse of how national health care will be run with unions involved.
