Chicago Tribune Tones Down Daley's Mob Ties By Changing Story

Last night,I blogged a story on the big patronage scandal trial in Chicago. The Chicago Tribune posted a story on their website and then changed it.I quoted last night's story on the Mob's job recommendations for Mayor Daley:
Several applicants were backed by then-union official Bruno Caruso, according to testimony. Caruso, his brother Frank Caruso and their cousin Leo Caruso were ousted from two Chicago locals of Laborers' International Union in 2001, when the union's independent hearing officer concluded that they were under the control of organized crime bosses.
Here's the Trib story today:
Coalition for Better Government leaders Dominic Longo and Ron Calicchio sponsored dozens of applicants for jobs and promotions, according to the list. Other sponsors named repeatedly include Ald. Isaac Carothers (29th Ward); Tom Dart, the Democratic nominee for Cook County sheriff; and former laborers union leader Bruno Caruso.
That's all they have to say about Caruso. No Mob connections. Why is the Chicago Tribune afraid to mention the Mob connections by altering the story?
