The National Enquirer is moving its editorial headquarters back to Florida in a cost-cutting move after a year in New York. One wonders why virtually anyone has headquarters in New York city with this kind of cost differential.
American Media Inc., the Enquirer's parent company, is also reinstating the tabloid's former editor-in-chief, David Perel, AMI Chairman and Chief Executive David Pecker said. The weekly magazine had been led by a British editorial team for the past year.
``The magazine industry has become very competitive over the past year. I had to make some very prudent business decisions,'' Pecker said.
The move back to Boca Raton in May will cut AMI's rent and salary costs by $10 million.
