Doris Kearns Goodwin Wins Lincoln Prize

Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Team of Rivals," her best-selling account of Abraham Lincoln and the former political foes who became members of his cabinet, has won the Lincoln Prize for an outstanding work about the president and/or the Civil War.

Goodwin, whose book has been nominated for a National Book Critics Circle award, will receive $50,000.

"`Team of Rivals' is both a scholarly achievement and a national best seller," Lincoln Prize chairman Gabor Borritt said Friday in a statement. "It reflects the years of research that its author devoted to her project, as well as the dazzling craft that only the most gifted writers can muster."
They certainly have high standards for that Lincoln Prize.Doris Kearns Goodwin is now the role model for plagiarists world wide.
