Chicago's Water Department and a New Scandal

The Chicago Sun-Times
reports:
Mayor Daley's troubled Water Management Department has yet another scandal on its hands: use of city tools to make illegal hookups and secure free natural gas service.

Robert Moore Jr. was arrested Dec. 28 in the 2400 block of South Christiana after allegedly accepting $100 in marked bills in return for "cutting the lock and turning on the gas" without permission of Peoples Gas. Moore faces a felony charge of interfering with a public utility.

Moore's father and namesake is a $28-an-hour city laborer of water distribution. In the son's possession at the time of the arrest was a city-owned tool that can be used interchangeably to control both water and gas service.
