The Chicago Sun-Times has a report on how Chicago is losing its' English speaking population.Look what happened to this government worker:
Barry Johnson doesn't speak a word of Spanish. But that hasn't stopped him from spending nearly three years as acting refuse collection coordinator for Chicago's predominantly Hispanic 12th Ward.
But,times are changing for Barry Johnson he's getting demoted:
"The alderman sat there and said, 'You do a great job, but I need somebody here who speaks Spanish.' They're worried that, come election time, having a white superintendent and a black coordinator will make them look bad," said Johnson, 41, who is black.
"I don't have to speak Spanish to do my job. It wasn't a job requirement. The guy who was there before me was a white guy. He was there for 20 years and did the same job in the same ward. Now, because the alderman needs someone who speaks Spanish, they knock me back down behind the garbage truck. It's racial. It's prejudiced. I feel betrayed."
No word yet on Chicago's great urban comeback of white and black middle class families coming to Chicago. You'll want to read the whole article just to find out how Barry Johnson makes more money than most of Chicago's private sector workforce(were not even counting the pension).
