Will The American Historical Association Have to Cancel The John H. Dunning Prize?

The members of the American Historical Association(AHA) know history. They are members of America's leading professional organization of historians. The AHA has a prize named after the late Columbia University historian John H. Dunning . Until the early 1960's , many students encountered Dunning's racist view of history in their textbooks. Dunning was under the assumption the blacks involved in government during Reconstruction were more corrupt than whites. This ridiculous thesis has long been soundly rejected. If Professor Dunning wanted to know about corruption he wouldn't have had to travel far to see major white corruption. Will the AHA get rid of the Dunning Prize? Is the Dunning "school of history" something that the AHA wants to honor?
