Imagine that
Powerful former Teamsters boss John Coli Sr. pleaded guilty Tuesday to corruption charges and agreed to cooperate with federal authorities in the ongoing investigation.
Coli, a politically connected and nationally known fixture in the Teamsters, resigned his position after he was charged in July 2017 he extorted a combined $325,000 from a well-known Chicago film studio while threatening work stoppages and other labor unrest. Sources identified the unnamed business as Cinespace Chicago Film Studios on the West Side.
Coli pleaded guilty to one count each of receiving illegal payments and filing a false income tax return.
His plea agreement calls for Coli to be sentenced to about 3 years in prison, but if he cooperates fully, prosecutors will recommend he be given about half that time.
