The 35-day extension is necessary due to "the complex nature of this public corruption case, and the fact that the investigation is ongoing," prosecutors said. The new deadline is June 7 -- five months after Burke was originally charged.

Prosecutors have asked for another extension in the deadline to indict Chicago Ald. Ed Burke. The previous deadline had been next Friday.
