MTA figures released late Friday show that weekend ridership plummeted, falling 8.8 percent in August 2018 compared to a year before. That means nearly half-a-million fewer MetroCard swipes each weekend.
Weekday ridership also continued to fall, dropping nearly 2.5 percent in August.
“I would imagine it's like a lot of people Ubering – which more often than not, I’ll do on like a really late night. Which I imagine probably contributes to (the decline),” said Katie Mini, who commutes from New Jersey every day.
