Beleaguered X-Men director Bryan Singer has dropped out of an upcoming “Creativity Conference” in Washington, a source tells THR. The filmmaker, who is being sued by a 31-year-old man who alleges Singer sexually abused him in the late 1990s, was scheduled to appear along with Vice President Joe Biden at the conference, which is being co-sponsored by the Motion Picture Association of America, Microsoft and ABC News as part of the festivities surrounding the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. No word yet from Ari Emanuel or William Morris on this story.
Michael F. Egan, III has filed a lawsuit alleging Singer drugged and raped him and offered movie roles in return for sexual favors. At a news conference this week, he also alleged that his mother reported the alleged abuse to the FBI in Los Angeles in 2000. An FBI spokesman confirmed that a complaint had been made, but added, “The suggestion that the FBI ignored evidence involving the victimization of a child is ludicrous.”
