This Day in Chicago History.... Justice Department Identifies Longest Serving Chicago City Councilman as "High Ranking Made Member of Chicago Mob". August 11, 1999 an historic day for Chicago.

He was the longest serving Chicago City Council member at the time, serving 23 years. The Justice Department named him a "made member" of the Chicago Mob. At the time of the indictment, he was Chairman of the Buildings Committee: the committee that determines how high the buildings are in Chicago. No word yet on this story from Democrat party boss Mike Madigan or former Mayor Daley. After all this is a "touchy" subject for Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
