China records world’s most imbalanced sex ratio at birth for second year, gender equality slips

The South China Morning Post reports:
China continues to record the world’s most imbalanced sex ratio at birth for the second consecutive year, and the country slipped in its ranking for overall gender equality, the latest report on global gender gaps shows.

China ranked 99 out of the 144 countries listed for overall gender equality this year, down from a ranking of 91 in 2015, according to the Global Gender Gap Report published on Wednesday.

The report also highlighted a trend that worries demographers, in which the nation is facing a serious gender imbalance alongside an ageing population.
The sad moment of central planning.
