The Chicago Tribune reports:

The noted Chicago drummer who was beaten early Saturday morning after leaving the Green Mill Jazz Club says no racial epithets had been directed at him by his attackers, contrary to the assertion on a GoFundMe Page created to raise funds for his recovery.

“I want to clear that up,” said Avreeayl Ra in an interview on Monday evening. “It wasn’t any kind of racial slurs or anything like that.”
