Chicago writes another violent chapter in a year full of anguish

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
The city’s bloody 2016 crossed another tragic line this weekend when the son of a Chicago cop was gunned down on the Southwest Side in front of his family’s home.

Had he not been shot dead in the Wrightwood neighborhood just after midnight Saturday, 19-year-old Arshell Dennis III would have been on his way back to St. John’s University in New York, where he studied journalism. Instead, his family spent the day planning his funeral, fending off reporters and meeting privately with Police Supt. Eddie Johnson.
Death by Chicago.
