Three New York City police officers and a businessman involved in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s fundraising efforts were arrested Monday morning, becoming the latest to be charged in a wide-ranging federal municipal corruption probe, according to people familiar with the matter.Stay tuned.
Jeremy Reichberg, a Brooklyn businessman who hosted a fundraiser in 2014 for the mayor’s nonprofit Campaign for One New York, was charged with fraud and conspiracy, the people said.
The three New York Police Department officers were Deputy Inspector James Grant, Deputy Chief Michael Harrington and Sgt. David Villanueva from the NYPD licensing division, the people said. Before their arrests, all three men had been placed on desk duty amid the investigation.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara was expected to announce the charges in news conference on Monday.
