A Long Island school district accused of inadequately addressing a white student’s claims of racial harassment as a “minority” in a predominantly Hispanic and black school abruptly settled the case Tuesday morning for an undisclosed amount.White folk win one.
Giovanni Micheli, 23, said he was mercilessly targeted over his race at Brentwood High School and that staffers blew off his pleas for help.
Before the second day of trial was slated to begin in Brooklyn Federal Court Tuesday, school attorney Jack Shields made the confidential offer to Micheli and his parents inside a sealed courtroom.
“We’re very happy with the settlement,” Micheli’s mom, Michelle Micheli, told The Post outside court.
