Death By Illegal. Omaha police: man charged in fatal hit and run is an illegal immigrant.

Nebraska Radio Network reports:

A motorist charged in a fatal hit and run in Omaha has been a fugitive from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since 2012.

The Omaha Police Department reports 27-year-old Edwin Elvir-Palma is from Honduras and is in the country illegally.

Elvir-Palma has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, suspicion of reckless driving, not having a driver’s license, and his fourth DUI.

Elvir-Palma is accused of running over 34-year-old Margarito Nava-Luna very early Saturday morning as she walked in the westbound lane of Manderson Plaza, which doesn’t have a sidewalk. An eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck Nava-Luna. The vehicle fled the scene. Nava-Luna was declared dead at the scene at about 2:30am Saturday.
