While campaigning for his wife, Hillary Clinton, in Washington state, the former president called on voters to support the former secretary of State “if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us,” according to USA Today.
The remark first appeared as a slight to Obama, but a spokesperson to Clinton later clarified that the former president was talking about Republicans and gridlock in the federal government.
Sanders blasted Bill Clinton for his comment Monday night, tweeting, “Don’t know that I’d call President Obama's 72 straight months of job growth an “awful legacy.”
