Chris Matthews' Wife Runs For Congress On Platform That Federal Government Workers Are Underpaid

Kathleen Matthews, wife of MSNBC's Chris Matthews, says federal government workers are unpaid. She's running for Congress with a lot of greedy federal government in her district:
Federal workers serve our country in invaluable ways and are a crucial part of our 8th District economy. Across all agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and Food and Drug Administration, both located in Montgomery County, they comprise roughly 13% of overall workers and support thousands of families. Yet they have been a political football in the partisan budget fights in Congress, and have unfairly borne the brunt of Republican votes that have led to a government shutdown, sequestration, and sacrifices in worker pay and benefits. According to AFGE, the American Federation of Government Employees, federal employees have lost $159 billion in pay and benefits since 2011, calculated over 10 years. This has to stop. Federal workers should not suffer because Congress is unable to fulfill its most basic responsibilities in coming to an agreement to fund the government.

In Congress, I’ll work to put an end to this dysfunctional system and will be a strong voice for ensuring federal workers are treated with the respect they deserve and receive the fair pay and benefits they’ve earned. I will oppose future pay freezes or cuts to retirement and health benefits, support paying furloughed workers in any future shutdowns that do happen, and will co-sponsor the important FAIR Act to give a much-needed 3.8% raise to all federal workers.
Kathleen Matthews: the voice of greed.
