Man Charged in Wealthy Chicago Suburb of Lake Forest Claimed ISIS Ties

The Daily North Shore reports:
A Lake County man charged after a courthouse incident in December had previously been stopped and arrested in Lake Forest and claimed he was joining ISIS, police said.

Hakeem K. Shaifer, 38, of Waukegan, was arrested in Lake Forest on Nov. 28. Police stopped Shaifer after several complaints of someone shining a green light, similar to a laser pointer, at other drivers on Route 41.

Lake Forest police found marijuana, brass knuckles and several magazines of pistol ammunition in the car. Shaifer was charged with unlawful use of weapon, possession of cannabis and possession of ammunition without a FOID card.

A press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s office states that during the Lake Forest arrest, Shaifer made comments claiming he was joining ISIS.
