Politicians' Family Members Just Deprived Us Of Legal Sports Betting

Above The Law reports:
Instead of joining the rest of the civilized world (and Nevada) in regulating and taxing sports betting, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals just squashed any hope of legal sports betting in this country absent a complete federal repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (“PASPA”).

In a 2-1 decision today, the 3rd Circuit upheld a federal ban on New Jersey’s attempt to allow sports betting at the state’s racetracks and Atlantic City’s casinos. The judges who relegated sports betting to under the table bets with bookies or offshore websites were none other than Marjorie Rendell, the wife of Ed Rendell, a Democratic former governor of Pennsylvania; and Maryanne Trump Barry, a sister of the Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Imagine that.
