Herbert Croly Founder and Editor of The New Republic: ' The negroes were a race possessed of moral and intellectual qualities inferior to those of the white men '

He was a founder of the New Republic magazine and its' editor. He was one of America's most important and influential progressives. In his monumental book Promise of American Life, Herbert Croly clearly states how the "progressive project " feels about blacks in America (page 81) :

the negroes were a race possessed of moral and intellectual qualities inferior to those of the white men

Is it time for blacks to get off the progressive plantation ,run by racist white elitists who write for publications such as the New Republic? Many people who don't believe in laissez-faire seem to have a history of being racists in America. Can the New Republic ever escape its' racist past or its' Soviet past ?
