McDonalds apparently has 700,000 or so US employees (other places say 400k, so, take your pick). Let’s assume that all work that 25 hours. And the minimum wage goes from $8 (to take account of some places already having higher than minimum) to $15. That’s 25 x 7 x 52 x 700k dollars: $6.4 billion then. Ooops! There goes McDonald's MCD -0.62% profits then. Before there’s any mention of providing health care. The demand for labor is always a downward sloping curve... not matter what some tenured socialist professor tells you.
This just isn’t going to work without some change in the amount of labor demanded, is it ?
