Wayne County bleeds population, Oakland and Macomb gain

The Detroit Free Press reports:
Wayne County led the nation in population loss again last year, though the exodus has slowed compared with previous years, according to U.S. Census estimates.

Michigan's most populous county lost 10,899 people — a 0.6% decline — between July 1, 2013, and July, 1, 2014, a loss that amounts to about 30 people per day.

The previous year, Wayne lost 17,067, about 1% of its population, according to the Census.

Oakland and Macomb counties posted net gains, trailing only Kent County in Western Michigan in new residents. Oakland added 6,048 people, a 0.5% gain, while Macomb added 5,115, a 0.6% increase.

In raw numbers, Wayne County's loss was tops in the nation, though other counties lost more of their population on a percentage basis.
The Detroit decline hasn't stopped.
