De Blasio can't stop meeting with Wall Street bankers

Crain's New York Business reports:
Mayor Bill de Blasio addressed several hundred employees at Morgan Stanley in a private meeting Wednesday, continuing a charm offensive with the titans of Wall Street that was heretofore uncharacteristic for the populist mayor.

Mr. de Blasio was invited to speak at Morgan Stanley by the bank's CEO, James Gorman, who is co-chair of the Partnership for New York City and a big supporter of Mr. de Blasio's former boss Hillary Clinton. A couple hundred employees gathered in the cafeteria of the bank's Sixth Avenue headquarters to hear Mr. de Blasio, followed by a moderated discussion with Vice Chairman Tom Nides.

As he's done in recent meetings with the rich and powerful of the financial industry, Mr. de Blasio alternated between acknowledgement of Wall Street's importance to the city's economy and a call to help lift the middle class by raising wages. He also touched on housing, infrastructure and education, as well as the city's low crime rate.
No word yet on this story from bitter tenured Professor Eric Alterman.
