London schools cancel synagogue trips citing security fears after Paris terror attacks

The Telegraph reports:
Rabbis have voiced alarm about a growing “fear of association with Jews” in Britain after school trips to synagogues were cancelled because of security concerns in the wake of the Paris terrorist atrocities.

Three schools in west London pulled out of planned visits to nearby Jewish places of worship, including events to commemorate victims of the holocaust, in recent weeks citing safety concerns.

Synagogue leaders said the decisions represented a victory for terrorism and marked a new “tipping point” in the spread of fear, with non-Jews now apparently afraid even to venture in.

The warning came just days after new figures showed that anti-Semitic incidents in the UK more than doubled last year to a record levels, a rise partly fuelled by hostility over Israel’s military action in Gaza.
