Liberal San Francisco Chronicle: Obama 'bringing sexy back’ to recharged Bay Area Dems

The San Francisco Chronicle's conception of what's sexy:
Remember Barack Obama, political rock star? He’s back.

Maybe it’s the confidence he seems to have gained from his assertive State of the Union address or the executive actions he’s taken to get around an uncooperative Congress or an economy that’s in far better shape than when he took office. But recharged California Democrats are greeting the president’s return to California this week as the reappearance of the political hero they once adored.

“A lot of people are saying to me, 'Who is this guy — and where’s he been for the last six years?’” said veteran California Democratic consultant Steve Maviglio, who cites Obama’s State of the Union speech on Jan. 20 as a turning point. “Partisan Democrats like confrontation, and now that the Republicans are in charge — we like what we see.”

He said the president’s aggressive moves on immigration and climate change are playing well with a wide variety of party constituents.
