SMU to lay off 100 employees; officials say budget cuts not a factor

Biz Journals reports:
Southern Methodist University will lay off 100 employees by the end of February as part of an initiative that officials say is not tied to budget cuts.

SMU President R. Gerald Turner said in an email to SMU faculty and staff on Thursday that the eliminations are intended to shift money away from administrative costs. The layoffs will only affect staff members; no faculty will be cut.
