Colorado Gov. Hickenlooper: People Can’t Educate Young People Well Themselves

Big Government reports:
Speaking at a luncheon, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) alarmed the homeschooling community when he included educating young people among things people, i.e. parents, can not do well themselves.

“Government should do what people individually can’t do, or can’t do well themselves,” Hickenlooper said. “You know, educating our young people, making sure our roads are designed and built properly, making sure our communities are safe…”

“There are tens of thousands of children in Colorado whose parents educate them quite well at home,” responded Mike Donnelly, staff attorney for Colorado at the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), in a press release. “Colorado law recognizes that parents have the primary responsibility to educate their children, and that home education is legitimate and appropriate.”
Governor Hickenlooper is proud of the illiteracy and drop out rates in America's biggest cities.
