2 top Republicans rip costly Mass. Medicaid stopgap

The Boston Herald reports:

Two top congressional Republicans are accusing the Obama and Patrick administrations of misusing federal Medicaid money to insure Bay Staters shut out of the state’s malfunctioning Obamacare website last year — including many who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid.

“We believe it an inappropriate use of federal Medicaid funds to temporarily enroll thousands of individuals in Medicaid, especially since CMS knows that many of these individuals are not eligible for Medicaid coverage,” wrote U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, the chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, in a joint letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services yesterday.
