Eastern Illinois University inked a $50,079 contract with Government Affairs Specialists, of which Loretta Durbin - wife of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin - is a principal partner.

Not a bad kickback. After all, Dick Durbin votes on the Department of Education budget which "gives" money to Eastern Illinois University. There's more according to the Chicago Tribune:

The meetings with Madigan and Mapes were coordinated through EIU lobbyist Loretta Durbin, the wife of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). Loretta Durbin said she told Springfield-based federal prosecutors, who contacted her on March 27, that she did not attend the meetings.

Loretta Durbin said the U.S. attorney's office "assured me that I was being contacted solely for information and not for any other reason. They informed me that I was not a subject or a target of their investigation."

So, now after years of Dick Durbin and Loretta profiting from more money going to higher education as they raised tuition thanks to Dick and Loretta: we get this campaign ad from tricky Dick Durbin.
