Anti-Israel professor Loses: U. of I. trustees vote 8-1 to reject Salaita

The Chicago Tribune reports:
The University of Illinois board of trustees today formally voted against the appointment of controversial professor Steven Salaita.

The board voted 8-1 to reject the appointment. Trustee James Montgomery was the sole vote in favor of it. Salaita supporters shouted, "Shame on you!"

Prior to the vote, President Robert Easter and Chancellor Phyllis Wise explained why they didn't think the appointment should be approved.

"Professor Salaita's approach indicates he would be incapable of fostering a classroom environment where conflicting opinions would be given equal consideration," Easter said.
Anti-Israel professor loses this one.
