Chicago Teachers Union president opens door to strike next year



Crain's Chicago Business reports:
CTU President Karen Lewis today declared in unmistakable terms that the union will forgo the fourth, optional year of a pact negotiated to end the 2012 strike. That means the current contract will expire on June 30, 2015 — close enough to Mayor Rahm Emanuel's presumed re-election on Feb. 22 that saber rattling about a coming strike will cast a fair-sized shadow over any earlier politicking.
