War! Rahm Attacks His Financial Angel : Emanuel rips Rauner over pension stance

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
Mayor Rahm Emanuel tonight ripped into his financial associate and sometime vacation buddy Bruce Rauner, accusing the GOP gubernatorial nominee of using "gimmicks" and "rhetoric" — just like "a career politician" — to try to scuttle the mayor's pension-rescue plan.

In a development that could have a big impact on the race for governor, Mr. Emanuel, in a statement released under the name of his spokeswoman, Sarah Hamilton, made it clear he is extremely displeased that the Rauner campaign has begun making thousands of robocalls to Chicago homeowners over the pension matter.

The calls urge homeowners to express their displeasure that Gov. Pat Quinn is "on the cusp" of signing Mr. Emanuel's bill, which the Rauner telephone calls say would allow the city "to raise property taxes on hard-working Chicagoans."

"I would veto this bill and block this property tax," states a script of the calls released by the Rauner campaign. "But Pat Quinn won't say where he stands. This should be a no-brainer. Veto the bill."
There's more from the non-MBA, mathematically challenged Rahm Emanuel:
Insiders say Mr. Emanuel has decided to fight back.

"Bruce Rauner hasn't even gotten to Springfield, and he's already acting like a career politician who plays politics with people's pensions and livelihood," said the statement from the mayor's spokeswoman. "The pension reform bill currently awaiting the governor's signature will bring financial security to 60,000 hard-working people."
