The is some good news in the report, which shows that technology-services jobs are picking up steam, particularly in software development and computer-systems design, as well as Internet publishing.
Between 2004 and 2014, high-tech jobs in Illinois increased just 1.4 percent while U.S. tech employment rose 10 percent, according to the report, produced by the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition.
Meantime, the Chicago area, which accounts for nearly 80 percent of Illinois tech jobs, lost 2.5 percent of its tech employment.
