Missouri representative charged with stealing political funds

The St. Louis Dispatch reports:
The former chairman of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus was charged here today with felony stealing for allegedly soliciting money intended for the organization and spending it on himself.

State Rep. Steve Webb Sr., 37, D-Florissant, was named on one felony count in St. Louis County Circuit Court, plus seven misdemeanor counts accusing him of violating laws on reporting and use of campaign money.

Webb the minority deputy whip, was first elected to a two-year term in 2008.
