Higher Education Bubble Burst Update: Tenured Faculty to Face The Ax- Up to 30 ESU faculty members could face ax in 2014-15

Pocono Record reports:
As many as 30 tenured East Stroudsburg University faculty members could be laid off in the 2014-15 academic year as part of a plan to close a projected deficit, representatives of the faculty union said Wednesday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, it wasn’t clear which positions could be on the chopping block.

Those professors are expected to be notified on Monday and Tuesday, with letters hand-delivered to their offices by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Van Reidhead.

Professors will also receive certified letters at their homes, said Nancy Van Arsdale, president of the ESU chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties.

The university’s deadline to notify tenured faculty is next Wednesday.
