Although straight white men have represented the dominant group in mainstream America, half of them still feel the need to hide their true identities at work, a new study by Deloitte found. The report, co-authored by Christine Smith of the Deloitte University Leadership Center for Inclusion and Kenji Yoshino of the NYU School of Law, also found that 75 percent of all employees hide their true selves – whether it involves their racial background, sexuality or age – despite the fact that many companies have diversity and inclusion programs.Work or encounter group?
