Chicago Political Boss pushes gun ban for businesses that serve alcohol

The Chicago Tribune reports on the new plot to disarm law abiding citizens in Chicago by Alderman Ed Burke:
Under the proposal, businesses serving alcohol must post signs near entrances stating no guns are allowed. Police officers and owners of the business serving alcohol would be allowed to carry. Businesses that sell packaged liquor but do not serve it also would be exempt. Liquor serving businesses that don't comply could lose their liquor license.

"If you can't maintain a gun-free environment, you shouldn't have a liquor license," Burke said. "I believe it makes a wealth of common sense and the restaurant industry is solidly behind this concept. They do not want to have patrons in their premises who are armed."

When asked about threats from gun rights groups to sue the city if Burke's law passes, Burke, who is an attorney, responded: "Everybody sues today in America. That's what lawyers are for."
This is a very revealing statement from Alderman Burke on lawyers. He's the guy who hands out the legal fees for the city of Chicago. For a look at how Alderman Burke arms himself click on this. For a look at Alderman Burke's rise to power (plus his work with the Chicago Mob) click on this.
