Lower Education Implosion:Michigan education officials dissolve Inkster school district

The Detroit News reports:
Children living in Inkster will attend school this fall in one of four nearby districts after Wayne County education officials took the unprecedented step of dissolving the Inkster school district Thursday night.
There's more:
About 2,200 school-age children live in Inkster, according to education officials. About 990 of those children attend Inkster schools, while the remaining 1,200 attend school outside Inkster through Michigan’s Schools of Choice option. About 931 children come into Inkster and attend school but live outside the district. Parents will be notified by mail of the new district boundaries, Wigent said. The receiving four districts will mail information to new families. Inkster has a $15.8 million deficit. Dissolving the districts means all employees, including teachers, will lose their jobs. As of the June 7 payroll, Inkster schools had 140 paid employees, including 91 teachers.
