GOP lawmakers push measures to prevent federal bailout for Detroit bankruptcy

The Detroit Free Press reports:

President Barack Obama’s administration has all but ruled out a federal bailout for bankrupt Detroit, but that’s not enough for some Republican U.S. senators who want a guarantee written into the law. And they want it to extend to more than just Detroit. This morning, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas added his voice to the growing choir of Republicans pushing for a measure that would prevent federal funds from being used to — as he put it — “bail out Detroit or any American city that mismanages its public finances.”
