Detroit retirees sue to block city from filing for bankruptcy

The Detroit News reports:
Exerting a state constitutional right to their pensions, a group of Detroit retirees wants a judge to block Gov. Rick Snyder’s administration from authorizing the city to seek federal bankruptcy. Three Detroit retirees and two city workers vested in the retirement system filed a lawsuit last week in Ingham County against the governor in response to Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s proposal to slash pension benefits. An amended complaint was filed Tuesday in Ingham County Circuit Court, naming the state of Michigan, Snyder and State Treasurer Andy Dillon as defendants.
History in the making.
