Deval Patrick expected to seek increased income tax

The Boston Globe reports:

Governor Deval Patrick is set to propose an increase in the state income tax as part of a multipronged plan to raise new revenues for transportation and education, according to a person with direct knowledge of the governor’s plans. Patrick is expected to unveil the plan, at least in part, in his annual State of the Commonwealth speech Wednesday night.
