He's supposed to be America's most influential movie critic. Here's a very small but telling look back at some movies you probably loved but Roger Ebert suggested you don't even see. Let's start with one of the funniest movies of all time,
Wedding Crashers. Have you met anyone who didn't like that movie?? Ebert didn't:
"Wedding Crashers" is all runway and no takeoff. It assembles the elements for a laugh-out-loud comedy, but it can't make them fly.
There's more:
There were probably days on the set of "Wedding Crashers" when everyone thought they had a winner.
Really? With a production budget of only $40 Million , Wedding Crashers went on to be one of the
biggest R rated comedies of all time. Ebert gave the comedy
Old School, one star. Here's Ebert's
take on Die Hard , one of the greatest action adventures of all time. Ebert says it's bad writing and not interesting. A critic might not like every popular movie but... you've got to wonder about the judgement of Roger Ebert with the movies mentioned here. We could go on , but you get the point. No word yet on Ebert's judgment on the documentary Obama 2016: he still
hasn't reviewed it. We will take take as a gift to the Obama campaign.
